What 360 degree feedback is
360-Degree Assessment and Feedback is a process that collects confidential performance information in a systematic way from multiple sources to identify an individual strengths and developmental areas.

The technique measures in detail the behaviours shown by the individual, in competencies that are critical to success in that role. It presents feedback in a powerful way. Large amounts of detailed information - both qualitative and quantitative are generated.

360 degree feedback is an exercise in introducing open management, even though the feedback is collected anonymously. It results in dramatic changes in the way people see each other. Participants begin to ask for feedback. They may share feedback to clarify it. Resondents see themselves as people who can influence behaviour instead of being passive recipients of it and therefore take their responsibilities seriously. The boss’s role changes from being a hander down of feedback with limited information to being a coach, helping the individual draw meaning from the feedback, help the person accept it and provide suggestions for change.

360 degree assessment is particularly suited for Leadership Development
